I started my studies in psychology at the University of the Western Cape, where I received a BPsych degree in 2004. After working at a community clinic for a brief time and working at a research organization in Cape Town, I completed my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and Community Counselling at Stellenbosch University in 2007. After completion of my internship and community service, I worked at a military hospital in the Western Cape for eight years. And entered fulltime private practice in Stellenbosch in 2019. I am also currently working at Stellenbosch University's Student Counselling Centre as a consultant psychologist.
I enjoy working with adults, adolescents and, especially the student population. My therapeutic approach is influenced by different theoretical modalities, and is catered to the needs and goals of the client. I work in an integrative manner, drawing from both unstructured and structured therapeutic modalities. I am trained in and often utilize Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialetical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills. Mindfulness greatly influences the work that I do. I offer both longterm and shortterm psychotherapy.
